How to roleplay in combat:
This is a small guide as to just a few things you should keep in mind whilst roleplaying a fight. So first off this is only to cover emote fights, and furthermore the type that is governed solely by the characters action realistically. Generally this type of roleplay combat is known to cause quite a bit of ooc conflict, unless both parties are accommodating and not to protective of their baby (their char).
To keep a fight realistic, generally characters that require a charge up time for their attacks, or those that attack from a distance, end up having to put a lot more effort into how they conduct themselves. Generally it's very difficult to attack 1v1 if that's their only ability, unless they are taking their opponent by surprise and able to keep their distance for a time before unleashing all hell. Remember points like this when both choosing your character and responding to fighting situations. No matter the character, you /must/ be prepared for that individual to suffer or lose in conflicts. Especially if they're particularly powerful.
Make sure that you don't emote a string of attacks, or try and fit in more than are physically capable by your character in that period of time. On top of that, don't use meta to block attacks from behind the head and the like unless you know your character definitely has the ability and reflexes to do this.
When fighting, each player takes turns to enact an action, needing to write 'attempt' or the equivalent, since the other character has the option to 'attempt' to stop that action, and so on and so forth. Essentially the roleplay scene become a mass of fast paced counters that are only provided by the well of knowledge that your /character/ has, not yourself.
When in these roleplay situations, something you should never do, is take the hostility into OOC. By which I mean you shouldn't have a go at the other player whatsoever. Raising concerns is fine, telling them they're being stupid for not understanding or making a mistake, is most certainly not.
